Twitter Integrates Paytm into its P2P Tips Feature

Twitter partners with Paytm; to boost 'Tips' feature in India

Twitter, the social networking microblogging website, announced integration with Paytm, a mobile wallet and payment system, for its new person-to-person tips feature. This, in turn, enables users to send money directly to their favorite content creators with the help of a tweet and Paytm.

Users can use the Twitter tipping feature to send money to creators on their platform. The Indian users who are using Paytm as their primary payment method can send tips using Twitter wherever they see the new “Send a Tip” button on the creator’s profile page.

The social media giant said that this new service will be available to all users in India for free of cost. On the other hand, creators will not have to do any extra work to access this service from Twitter. Rather, they can get started immediately by adding their Paytm number on their profile page.

Twitter declared that it will be rolling out this feature for Indian users in a phased manner in the coming days. Once rolled out completely, users will be able to tip content creators directly through Twitter by following simple steps like tapping on the heart icon and selecting “Send a Tip”. On top of it, they will also get an option where they can support the creator in any amount of their choice.

How it Works

The micro-blogging site has added a new button that allows users to send money to the content creators they like or support their favorite causes. The button appears next to the follow button on Twitter profiles.

To use this feature, you will need to have a verified Twitter account and a Paytm account linked to an Indian bank account.

Users can also link their Twitter and Paytm accounts through their smartphones. Once both are linked, users can send tips by tapping on the dollar icon that appears on tweets by content creators who have enabled the tipping feature.
